Teaching Philosophy

I believe an excellent teacher is one who trains their students in knowledge and character so that they may become successful citizens in the world. As a teacher/tutor, I will instill a passion and desire into each child making them lifelong independent learners.

I will strive to help both the student and parents focus beyond grades alone and onto the students heart and motivation for learning; this will help them to grow fully in the knowledge that will guide them for the rest of their lives.

Personal

I taught 4th and 5th graders for four years at Eisenhower Elementary School in the Cupertino Union School District. Prior to that, I was a 7th grade teacher at Hyde Middle School and a 4th grade teacher at Valencia Valley Elementary in Valencia, California.

I am currently teaching 3rd Grade part time at San Jose Christian School in Campbell.

I was raised in Pacific Grove, California (Monterey Peninsula) and moved to Santa Clarita, California to go to school at The Master's College. After graduating and earning my California Teaching Credential, I began teaching fourth grade at Valencia Valley Elementary School (Los Angeles County). One year later, I decided to move to Cupertino to be closer to friends and family (and to get married). After a couple of years of teaching, I went back to grad school to earn a Masters in Education, Specializing in Reading and Literacy.

I am married to a very wonderful man, Mr. Berry. We were married on February 18th, 2006. Mr. Berry works at The King's Academy. We also have two sons, Joshua and Caleb and a daughter, Mackenzie.

Professional

As an educator, I will never settle for being merely sufficient; I must be exemplary in all that I do. It is only though a personal, genuine and unceasing passion for learning that I may truly inspire my students to strive for the same.

With over 18 years of professional teaching in the California Public Education System and TKA HW Club, Mrs. Berry is able to offer the best tutoring instruction in a comfortable and caring environment.
